Official Website Launch Day

Launch of our KMC website for parents and healthcare workers

Following the updated WHO guidance on preterm care, we launched a new website at RUMC on World Prematurity Day 2022, with an official launch on 22nd November 2022.
Prof Jackqueline J. Ho  gifted the award prize money to Dr Foong Wai Cheng who together with 5 Junior Research Fellows used the money to design the new website.
Senior Administrators from the State Health Department,  as well as from private hospitals  and WABA joined us on stage to officiate the launch. 

Ireland-Malaysia Day 2024

Ireland-Malaysia Day 2024
A day filled with fun and educational activities for the public, as well as students and staff from RCSI & UCD Malaysia Campus. More than 100 people attended, both young and old. Activities included a kangaroo mother care and breastfeeding awareness booth, Teddy Bear Hospital, Sand Art Corner, Fun Run, Telematch, stage performances, and a blood donation drive. 

World Breastfeeding Week

World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) is a global network  that coordinates and organises the World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) between Aug 1-7. Since 2016, WABA has aligned the WBW campaign to United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This is called the WBW-SDGs Campaign.

KMC hybrid Workshop in collaboration with HUSM 2023

A/Prof Dr Foong Siew Cheng and Dr Foong Wai Cheng collaborated with Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM), Kelantan to run a KMC workshop for a KMC workshop on 3/8/23 at HUSM, Kelantan. It was an experimental workshop to see if we could successfully conduct this in a hybrid manner. 

International Kangaroo Mother Care Awareness Day 2022

The International Kangaroo Care Awareness Day (May 15th) is a GLOBAL event celebrated since 2011 by communities that appreciate Kangaroo Care parents, organizations, and professionals. 

World Prematurity Day 2022, November 17 2022

This event is aimed at helping raise awareness of preterm birth and the concerns of preterm babies and their families worldwide. Approximately 15 million babies are born preterm each year, accounting for about one in 10 of all babies born worldwide. The survival of these preterm babies and the integrity of family bond could be enhanced by instilling and practicing early and sustained kangaroo mother care.

The XIIIth International KMC workshop

The XIIIth international KMC workshop and congress is going to be held this Nov 21-24, 2022 in Madrid Spain. Let us participate and learn more about KMC in the world.
